I joined the firm as a tax manager in June 2020 – the summer of Covid. This was an unusual time to begin a new position, and during 2020 I quickly learned the character and values of leaders are most transparent during times of crisis. The firm leadership always put the wellbeing of their people and clients first, and their culture of compassion, a unified team, and extraordinary outcomes was exemplified during this difficult time! Brown Plus understands the firm’s success is tied to the success of their people and teams. They are committed to offering opportunities for learning and growth and were very supportive in my decision to pursue my Masters in Taxation! The firm is always looking for new ways to make the workplace fun and to improve life balance – from wellness reimbursements (for things like sneakers and massages) to 36-hour summer work weeks. They truly are the best CPA firm to work for.

It is critical in the early stages of your career to have mentors with a passion for cultivating talent, and that is exactly what I have found here at Brown Plus. The whole team is a pleasure to work alongside. Coming in as a first-year staff, they actively encouraged me to ask questions while challenging me to take ownership and make meaningful contributions to engagements. The wide diversity of clients and service lines ensures that you will be exposed to nearly every facet of public accounting and find what you are most interested in pursuing. On a personal level, I have been consistently impressed with their commitment to providing work life balance and taking the time to be stewards of the local community with paid days off to volunteer. When I graduated college, I knew I wanted to work in public accounting, and I decided to come and work at Brown Plus because of the culture of the firm. From interns to principals, the employees at Brown Plus are very friendly and easy to work with. Being one of the “Best Places to Work in PA” year after year, it is true that Brown Plus truly cares about their employees. My favorite thing about working at Brown Plus is working with the different employees in the firm to “help people achieve extraordinary outcomes.” Everyone is always willing to answer any questions and to help you become a better professional. Our culture at Brown Plus is truly what defines our firm, and it is enjoyable to work for an organization that cares about their employees.

I started full-time with Brown Plus after graduating from college. When I accepted my position, I moved from Pennsylvania to Maryland. The team members in my office helped with my relocation, giving me advice when apartment-hunting and inviting me to volunteer in the community. The firm has been very supportive of my professional growth, allowing me days off to take my CPA exams and encouraging me to pursue my professional interests, all while challenging me to become a better accountant. My time with Brown Plus has shown the firm’s dedication to me, both professionally and personally.

I started as an intern with Brown Plus during the summer to get useful, real world experience to include on my resume; little did I know I would be offered to come back and work full time once I graduated, then be here for 16+ years. Brown Plus has a positive work environment that promotes flexibility, teamwork, and community amongst many other things. Out of everything, my favorite part is the people. From fellow team members, clients, or others in the community, I have the privilege of collaborating with great people that help me learn and think outside of my normal parameters.

I started as an intern and quickly moved up to my current role as Supervisor, and I credit my career growth to all the support I receive from my coworkers and mentors, both inside and outside of the office. Additionally, the life balance the Firm provides allows me to spend time with my family, as well as study for the CPA exam. Brown Plus has the best culture of any company I’ve ever worked for and is the reason I love my job.
